Not everyone likes to spend the whole of their holiday lazing by the pool, so for those of you who like to get out and about and be a little more active, Corsica has plenty for you to get stuck in to.
Canyoning
For those who aren’t familiar, Canyoning is travelling through canyons using a variety of techniques such as walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling and swimming. One of the best ways to discover the magic of Corsica is to canyon through its notorious gorges, of which there are plenty! Although canyoning is great all year round, the summer offers nice, pleasant temperatures and warmer waters. Mainly based around the centre and south of the island, the canyons offer different levels from beginner to more advanced, so if you’re looking for a more adventurous family or group activity, this could be a great introduction to canyoning for all.

Cycling
The best time of year for cycling in Corsica is May to June and September to October when the temperatures are a little cooler and the roads a little quieter. The Tour de France visited Corsica for the first time in 2018 showing what a spectacular destination the island is for cycling. You will need lots of determination and stamina to get yourself up the mountain roads, but the reward of some of the island’s most outstanding views is well worth the effort.
If you fancy hopping on a bicycle for a day or two while in Corsica it is possible to hire them, whether it be mountain bikes, road bikes or even electric bikes to give you a hand getting up those hills! For those keen cyclists who want to take their own bikes, please remember to book the bicycle on the airline and check their terms of carriage. You will also need to think about transporting the bicycles to and from the airport and your accommodation.
Via Ferrata
A Via Ferrata is a protected climbing route which can be found in mountain ranges throughout Europe. Corsica has a number of Via Ferrata adventure trails offering hours of fun where you can experience the thrill of rock climbing but without the usual risk. With full instruction you’ll be strapped up and enjoying vertical adventure courses which include ramps, aerial bridges and ladders, treetop trails and thrilling zip-lines. Be sure to wear either hiking boots or trainers!
Watersports
Watersports are available on most major beaches in Corsica. With activities ranging from jet skiing, parasailing, sea kayaks, paddle boarding and mini catamaran hire, there is something for every level of ability to experience in the beautiful azure waters. Most activities you can hire by the hour, but some activities offer courses if you’re looking to brush up on those skills!
Trekking
What better way to discover the islands inner beauty than to pull on those walking boots and get trekking around the island. Corsica has many marked trails to suit all levels, however some are much more challenging than others, so make you choose an itinerary that you feel comfortable with. For those who are up for a challenge, the infamous GR20, Europe’s hardest and longest trail, is a two-week itinerary taking walkers the length of the island. If that sounds a little too hardcore, several other itineraries are just as rewarding with the views, but a little easier on the body. We offer a variety of self-guided itineraries - take a look and start planning for 2024.
