Giampiccolo
One of the most popular dive sites is the Lavezzi Islands Marine Reserve, located in the Strait of Bonifacio. This nature reserve is home to a wide variety of marine species, such as octopuses, groupers, and barracuda. Divers are spoilt for things to explore from underwater canyons, cliffs and caves, divers are treated to the breathtaking scenery of the island's granite formation.
Another popular diving site is the Scandola Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the west coast of Corsica. The nature reserve boasts a unique underwater landscape, with colourful coral formations, sea fans and sponges. Enjoy exploring underwater grottos and encountering dolphins, sea turtles, and moray eels.
For wreck diving enthusiasts, make sure to add the Gulf of Porto to your list. This must-visit destination has several wrecks, including a World War Two aircraft carrier and a cargo ship. In order to maintain healthy marine life, these wrecks have become artificial reefs and are home to a variety of marine life, making it an exciting dive site with the chance to see many species.
If you are new to scuba diving, there are plenty of dive schools across the island that offer courses for all experience levels. You will find that the instructors are friendly and knowledgeable and will provide you with a fun experience to begin your diving journey with the peace of mind that you are in safe hands. When searching for a dive school look out for PADI and IDA-certified businesses. There are a number of scuba diving schools in Calvi including Diving Calvi A Piaghja and Calvi Plongee.
