A beautiful private villa in the quaint Balagne village of Aregno. Villa Ettori offers great outside space, sweeping views down to the sea and modern facilities that will tick all the boxes for a multi-generational holiday.

 

Welcome Pack 

  • We provide our customers staying at this property with a welcome pack that contains water, orange juice, wine, beer, Corsican biscuits and snacks. To further assist your arrival, we also include some toilet paper, dishwasher tablets, dishcloths, washing liquid, hand soap, and salt and pepper.

 

Villa Ettori is designed with an open-plan living area downstairs with some wonderful touches to complete a home away from home stay. As you enter, your eyes will be drawn to the unique staircase which runs through the central living area. A real feature in this large open space that is home to a dining area, a new, recently fitted, well-equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge benefitting from a large smart TV and soundbar - making a movie night a must during your stay!

There are four bedrooms, all equipped with en-suite walk-in shower rooms. One double resides on the ground floor, and can be accessed from the outside as well as from the main living area. Upstairs you will find three more bedrooms (one a twin), all enjoying views down to the sea. The clever design of the villa gives access to these rooms, also from outside, making luggage delivery an easy job, without having to navigate the internal staircase.

The outside space at Ettori is well thought out, and provides the best of both worlds. A private pool sits to the side of the villa where al-fresco dining can be enjoyed. Relax on the sunbeds or enjoy a refreshing dip to help keep you cool. Through the gate the garden area housing a large tree provides little nooks of shade, a perfect retreat for you to lose yourself in your most recent read. And for game time, enjoy the traditional Corsican boules area for some healthy competitive play!

Perfectly located to embrace village life, Villa Ettori sits in a central spot within Aregno. A short stroll provides access to the handy minimarket that serves the village whith an abundance of fresh bread, fruit and vegetables, as well as the staple ingredients. Head a little further down the hill to explore the church sitting proudly in the square where you will also find a Corsican restaurant and bar. 

The lovely village of Algajola is just 10 minutes drive away, and L'lle Rousse can be found just a 20-minute drive away, with it's large choice of bars and restaurants are available as well as local markets, shops and the beach. Venture into the other villages of La Balagne for a slice of local life. Pigna sits proudly on the hill just five minutes away, or head down to the coast where a selection of beaches are available running across the northern coastline of Corsica.  

This villa may not be suitable for very young children due to the design of the central staircase.

About the Local Area

ABOUT AREA

Set amidst a blanket of olive, orange and lemon orchards that set down to the sea, sits the hillside village of Aregno. This village is famous for its almond festival, which takes place every August and, it is a great starting point to explore the perched villages of la Balagne and their awe-inspiring views. Drive down from the hills and discover the beach of Aregno, a superb curve of golden sand and crystal clear water.

BEACHES

Aregno
This beach is a kilometre-long curve of coarse sand beneath a picturesque Genoese citadel. During the months of July & August, the beach is extremely busy, but out of high season, you can have this beach pretty much all to yourself!

Bodri
East of Sant’Ambroggio lies Bodri Plage, an unspoilt beach reached by a walk through the maquis and over the railway line. The walk is worth it, as the beach has almost white sand and a turquoise sea.

FESTIVALS

Foire de l’Amandier in Aregno
Since 1997, Aregno has played host to Corsicas only Almond festival. Held at the beginning of August, nut farmers and their families travel from all over the island to take part in the cooking competitions.

Festivoce in Pigna
Held early August, this festival provides a forum for long nights of traditional a cappella singing in the outdoor amphitheatre.

Foire de l'Alivu in Montegrosso
Around 10,000 visitors honour the olive in July, in a delightful olive grove setting with exhibitions demonstrating olive production over the years and artisans selling refreshments and local produce. 

Rencontres Polyphoniques in Calvi 
Polyphonic singing is at the heart of Corsican culture every September in Calvi and singers from around the world perform in the citadel at the Rencontres Polyphoniques.

THINGS TO SEE & DO

Pigna
The pretty blue shuttered village of Pigna is well worth a visit, just 2km from Aregno, its home to some fabulous craft shops and the irresistible setting to the Festivoce, a festival of Corsican polyphony.

Algajola
Midway between Calvi & L’lle Rousse Algajola is Balagne’s 3rd largest resort. It is a considerably quieter than its more famous neighbours and consists of just one street, which begins alongside Aregno beach and leads up to the Algajola Citadelle. It is situated on the main bus and train routes between Bastia and Calvi, so is very well connected by public transport, and has a regular service in both directions.

Le Chariot Restaurant, Algajola
A must visit restaurant in Algajola. With such an amazing Mediterranean feel, and serving some of the best pizzas you will find on the island.

Strada di l’Artigiani
Follow the craft trail “Strada di l’Artigiani” through the villages of la Balagne and sample the local specialities en route.        

Visit Calvi Town & The Citadel
Calvi Towns social life focuses on the many restaurants and cafés of the quai landry which is a large seafront walkway that links the marina and the port effortlessly. To get the best possible feel of the town, this is the place to be! A walk up through the narrow passageways off quai landry will take you to rue Clemenceau where you will find an array of restaurants and souvenir shops plenty. Further walking will present the Ste-Marie-Majeure, built in 1774.

Calvi – L’lle Rousse by train
This regular service allows you to explore the coastline to the east of Calvi, stopping at all of the beaches en route, which means you can jump on in Algajola and travel in either direction! The line built in the 1880’s and 1890’s hugging the coast is undoubtedly one of the worlds most scenic railways. The complete journey takes approx 50 minutes, and depending on the time of year travelling, there are between 5 and 10 return journeys a day.
