The 'Isle of Beauty' may be a haven for summer holidays, however, autumn is also a fantastic time to make the most of exploring the island further.

Whilst the heat of the summer has gone, October is the perfect time to explore Corsica. The island has plenty to offer at this time of year and without the scorching heat of the summer, it can be easier to explore by foot or even bicycle!

With temperatures reaching 22°C in October, Corsica is ideal for prolonging summer and avoiding the looming darkness of UK winter! There are plenty of bright and sunny days to be had at this time of year that certainly warrant a beach trip or two.

Cycling in Corsica

There are plenty of options for cycling throughout the island, while stamina and plenty of determination are needed to tackle the steep winding roads, it is an extremely rewarding way to see the island and the temperatures in October are ideal for it. Experience glorious views as you make your way through your route, well worth the effort put in! You will find many places to stop for refreshments along the way and further enjoy panoramic views.

Hiring bikes is easy, with businesses dotted throughout the island offering rentals. Choose from a leisurely afternoon ride or a more rigorous day out, that requires a mountain bike. Walking in Corsica

Of course, getting around by foot is a great way to explore the area and there are plenty of great routes on the island. From exploring the villages of la Balagne in the north to forest walks in Corte, in the interior of the island. The Gulf of Valinco on the west coast boasts great walking routes and stunning scenery. Venturing on foot in this region is rewarding with granite outcrops, secluded beaches and the scent of maquis in the air. Down in Bonifacio in L'Extrême Sud, the coastal walk to the lighthouse along the top of the limestone cliffs is stunning, on a sunny autumn day it is the perfect way to take in the coastline.
