Make the most of mild Corsican Autumn days, take part in plenty of outdoor activities and enjoy the beauty of Corsica.
Autumn is a perfect time to visit Corsica, whilst you may not experience the high temperatures of July and August, you will experience pleasant temperatures of up to 22 degrees. There are still sunny days, allowing you to experience some prewinter sun that you may not otherwise get in the UK. The weather is perfect for a walk along the pristine beaches with warm autumn sun on your face, the sea is a pleasant temperature at this time of year, having been gently warmed by the summer sun.
Make the most of the lower temperatures and take part in some of the many activities the island has to offer. Walking and cycling are particularly pleasant at this time of year and are hugely popular across Corsica. Discover the beautiful mountains, fringed with lush green hills trickling down to views across pristine beaches and golden sands. Hiking can vary from the strenuous GR20 to more tranquil walks like the Bonifacio Coastal walk, with rewarding views of the lighthouse at the end of the trail.
Cycling during the peak summer months is not common, with temperatures reaching up to 37°c, so autumn brings the perfect temperatures to get on 2 wheels. Cycling in Corsica can be quite challenging, so it does attract keen cyclists, due to its mountainous landscape. However, you will most certainly be rewarded for your efforts with stunning views and maybe a pit stop along the way! Plenty of restaurants offer game, including wild boar, hare and pigeons at this time of year, and for the vegetarians you’ll see the addition of wild mushroom based recipes on many menus.
It goes without saying that travelling in the shoulder season will mean less crowds. If you enjoy tranquillity and want to avoid sharing beauty spots with others, then autumn is the perfect time to explore the island of beauty. With plenty of accommodation that is perfect for both couples and families.
