Amongst its dramatic mountains, lush interior, fragrant maquis-covered hills and stunning beaches, Corsica hosts many vibrant festivals and events throughout the year, providing holidaymakers with great insight into the island's culture, character and traditions. If you love to immerse yourself in local colourful festivities when on holiday, you'll be pleased to know that two of the island’s most famous food and music festivals have now released their 2019 dates. Here's a little about them and where you can stay nearby to the make the most of the experience... 

A Fiera di U Casgiu in Venaco | Cheese Festival 

When? 4th and 5th May 2019

A Fiera di U Casgiu, seen on Rick Stein's Mediterranean Escapes, is a two-day fair which takes place in the central town of Venaco on Saturday and Sunday, 4th and 5th of May. Celebrating its rural cheeses and local produce, food lovers are presented with a wonderful opportunity to sample some of Corsica’s finest local cheeses. Find out more about the festival.


A multi-centre holiday to enjoy the festival and do some exploring...

Why not combine A Fiera di U Casgiu festival with an introduction to the north east, west and central regions of Corsica, highlighting the island's mountainous interior and sublime coastline?

This beachside hotel is just a sort stroll from the pretty town of L’Ile Rousse, along the coastline of la Balagne, The daily market provides great opportunity to purchase local produce, and a visit to local producers in the hills is also highly recommended. Find out more.



Les Nuits de la Guitare in Patrimonio | Music Festival

When? 20th - 27th July 2019

The impressive amphitheatre in the village of Patrimonio in Corsica's north east is the setting for the island’s famed Nuits de la Guitare. For more than 20 years, the 'guitar nights' have become the annual meeting place for leading international guitarists in jazz, blues, flamenco, manouche, rock, tzigane, tango and classical music. This year, the event will host Marcus Miller, a famous American jazz composer and bass guitarist, and Selah Sue – an up-and-coming Belgian artist. Find out more about this festival.
