A welcome airport experience

Our Head of Operations & Systems flew to Corsica for the Jubilee week and was pleasantly surprised by how smooth her journey was on the only UK direct flight to Calvi.

Update 22nd June: Still no queues at our Stansted Airport check-in

Sunday 19th June check-in desks

Images of long queues at many UK airports, cancelled flights and delays have understandably caused anxiety amongst holidaymakers wondering if they are actually going to be able to travel on their long-awaited summer holidays. Let me allay your worries…

My partner and I decided to take advantage of a superb last-minute deal we had available at Le Home in Calvi and having thoroughly checked all the entry rules for France and made sure our passports were valid, we were off.

Our flight departs Stansted at a very civilised 10.20am after the very early morning flights have dispersed. When we arrived to check in at Stansted, our flight had quite a few desks open so the check-in queue was minimal. Throughout the airport including security, the lounge, shops and bar, it was busy but back to pre-pandemic levels – certainly not in any way like the chaos that has happened at other airports.

After an amazing week in Corsica, we had an early start to fly home but I hadn’t quite appreciated how fantastic this new flight time is, so much nicer than hanging around all day, waiting for a late afternoon flight. The transfer to the airport was only around 10 mins, and being a small airport with limited flights, we were all checked in pretty quickly. Baggage reclaim at Stansted Airport was a breeze and just a few hours after leaving our accommodation, we were on the M11 driving home.

We’ve also had some really positive comments from customers who travelled in May about our new flight times…

"I prefer the late time travelling to Corsica and the early time returning - a great improvement"
Miss May
"The journey was pleasant; the flight on time and only two hours in duration, simple arrival procedures at Calvi Airport and a short transfer to the accommodation."
Mr Bird
"As usual a flawless service given by all members of staff at Corsican Places and it was nice to be back in a great well cared for property. We will definitely be back soon."
Mr Richards
"We experienced no problems at all in getting to and from Calvi, flying from Stansted, and the representative of yours in Calvi was so pleasant, helpful and welcoming, both on arrival and departure."
Mr Monk
