Why Visit Corsica?

Corsica is our closest Mediterranean island & has something for everyone.

A fantastic climate, activities to suit all tastes, some serious food and wine, plus gently shelving sandy beaches - ideal for families.

Corsica Family Travel

Corsica is a very low-stress destination with a flight time of less than two hours and a season lasting from May until October. There are many reasons why Corsica is ideal for families. Firstly, the traditional holiday weather is distinctly Mediterranean, with a superb landscape to match. Moreover, gently shelving beaches are ideal for a family summer holiday even for small children, with fine white sand and crystal clear waters and pool security the norm. Finally, culture and food all add to the holiday experience.

The wide variety of scenery, from deserted beaches to mountain villages and forests, makes the island appealing to all ages and it is easy to travel from beach to mountain in around half an hour, packing in a variety of land or water activities without feeling rushed. On a drive or train ride up to the mountains you will probably meet wild cows, sheep, goats and possibly even wild boar - a source of great excitement for children and adults alike.

For older children there are some fascinating towns and villages to explore including Bonifacio in the south, Calvi in the north, the ancient capital Corte and the proud, beautiful Sartene. There is plenty of historical interest too, with a large number of relatively untouched prehistoric sites with menhirs and dolmens.

Although Hotels in Corsica always welcome children, self-catering will offer you more flexibility; from villas that offer plenty of space for the family to relax, a real home from home, to Résidences for those who want to meet with other families around the pool area, there is something for everyone in our collection. If you choose to eat out, well priced set menus can be found at most restaurants where children are very positively welcomed. Corsicans love children, eating out isn't cheap but a good children's menu is no more expensive than in the UK, with restaurants serving from 7pm. Familiar favourites such as Spaghetti Bolognaise, Pizza, Steak Haché (Burger Steak) are all frequently on children's menus in Corsica.

We can guide you to what is available in which local areas to help you make the most of your family holiday, whatever the age of your children.
