Corsica is our closest Mediterranean island & has something for everyone.
A fantastic climate, activities to suit all tastes, some serious food and wine, plus gently shelving sandy beaches - ideal for families.
Corsica's seabed is rich in flora and fauna making it one of the best areas for diving in Europe, partly due to the clarity of the water.
Great diving in Corsica can also be found all around the island, from the Revellata peninsula near Calvi, where you can dive to the wreck of a WWII bomber to the marine reserve at Bonifacio or the 'cathédrales' off the coast at Porto Pollo in the Valinco.
Corsica is a water lover's oasis and is one of the best places to dive in Europe - the legendary clarity and temperatures of the water easily passing for tropical. The waters that lap the white-sanded shores of this beautiful island are extraordinarily clear and clean, and lofted on the sea breeze is the timeless scent of the maquis, an aromatic mixture of shrubs such as bay and thyme, myrtle and rosemary.
Corsica's inlets and beaches are numerous and the island possesses 30 diving centres dotted along its 1000km coastline. The dramatically rugged landscape on the dry side of the shoreline continues underwater in the form of yet more mountains and canyons, needles, sharp peaks, rocky masses and scree. The onshore maquis scrub, meanwhile transforms underwater into a handsome carpet of yellow flowering anemone, red coral and gorgonian. Underwater inhabitants on the island include grouper, brown meagre and dentex and there are a number of easily accessible wrecks to explore. Corsica's superb underwater kingdom has been impressively well preserved, thanks to the careful management of two internationally renowned marine nature reserves, the absence of an intensive commercial fishing industry and an almost total lack of polluters and pollutants.
The waters around Bonifacio, Scandola, Ajaccio, Cargese, the Desert des Agriates, Calvi and Propriano are particularly well renowned for being prime diving spots.
