Corsica is situated in the heart of the Mediterranean, 170km off the French coast and 80 kms from Italy.
Corsica has both French and Italian flavours but retains a distinct personality.
This is a beautiful secluded beach - but one that is only accessible by car and serviced only by a small car park and the two things aren't always compatible. So get there early! It's well worth a visit; with its fine golden sand and clear blue seas. One word of warning - there is sometimes a random visitation of cows...
This is a cute little beach near to the town of Porto Pollo. It is close to the marina and its a fine selection of cafes and restaurants so you can indulge in a spot of lunch and sleep it off in a shady spot or basking in the summer sun.
This renowned family beach is a short drive from the centre of Ajaccio and it has a good suite of facilities including parking, lifeguards and toilets. Yet is also maintains a unique environment with the recent replanting of local plants and a strong sense of conservation for the local wildlife. All this and the beautiful pure blue of the Mediterranean.
Propriano has a number of beaches, the busiest of which is the Plage du Phare which has a golden sand and a selection of cafes and restaurants. It can get very crowded during peak season. There are several beaches along this stretch which are a tad less accessible but well worth the scramble if you can face it. Ask locally for directions to these more secluded bays.
The stretch of coast here has a number of bays, coves and larger beaches and with varying degrees of accessibility. There is a large stretch of beach by the restaurant La Crique, but along the coast there are various access points (some easier to navigate than others) to smaller, more deserted and equally beautiful beaches.
