01 November 2007 - Corsican Places - Press Office

Corsican Places launches its 2008 brochure this week, strengthening its reputation as the leading Corsican specialist. Celebrating 21 years of operation, the tour operator offers the widest range of properties – predominantly self-catering, but also selected hotels, many of which are exclusive to its programme – across this uncommercialised and unspoilt island.

Highlights of the 2008 brochure include:

Introduction of seven new properties to the Corsican Places portfolio – this includes Villa Gallu, the specialist’s first Platinum property to be situated in the south of the island.
A stone-built villa set in extensive grounds, Villa Gallu is positioned high above sea level between Bonifacio and the famous Gulf of Sperone. The rooftop solarium offers views across to Sardinia and the villa is a must for golf enthusiasts as the exclusive 18-hole course of Sperone is only 1.5km away.

Expanded Twin Centre programme – the new brochure features three new hotels in Sardinia (one three star and two four star options) to add to the appeal of the specialist’s Twin Centre Corsica and Sardinia holidays. Regions covered include the sought after coastline of Costa Smeralda.

Tailormade Touring itineraries – these can be taken independently or added onto a week’s stay in a villa. Holidaymakers can choose from any of the featured properties in the Corsican Places brochure, throughout the whole island, and explore Corsica at a pace that suits them.

Sailing itineraries – Holidaymakers can charter their own yacht for a week for an independent sailing adventure or for those who cannot sail they can hire a skipper to accompany their cruise.
Other water-based options include windsurfing and diving, and the interior of the island is ideal for river and lake fishing, as well as rafting.

Corsica by track – Explore Corsica independently by mountain bike, or quad bike through the maquis for a pure adrenalin rush. Horse riding is also available in each region, from galloping along a beach in the Balagne to trekking into the mountains.

Corsica as a hiker’s paradise – Hiking potential is one of the key attractions of the island and Corsica’s GR20 is one of the most renowned hiking trails in France. Climbing in Corsica is also an exhilarating experience – the pinnacle of which is the Bavella needles.

New: Corsican Places has been awarded a 2 star Responsible Tourism status by AITO (the Association of Independent Tour Operators). Currently the tour operator is supporting the carbon offset scheme launched by its sister company, The Gambia Experience, but plans to shortly initiate a separate conservation project in Corsica itself.

Prices start at £339pp for a 7-night holiday with Corsican Places in 2008. This price is based on self-catering accommodation at Apartment Georges, located in the heart of Calvi citadel, includes return flights, transfers and a welcome hamper, and is based on 4 sharing, valid for travel dates 4 – 24 May and 14 September – 4 October 2008. (Please note that this price includes the Early Booking Offer discount of £50pp, valid if booked by 17 November 2007).

Corsican Places is offering a number of Early Booking Offers, valid if booked by 17 November 2007. These include free child places, increased child discounts, no regional flight supplements, price reductions on selected properties and free car hire upgrades.
