Fiera di Castagna - Bocognano
Considered to the be the most important regional fair in Corsica attracting 20,000 visitors. Dedicated to chestnuts and the tutelary ‘bread tree’ over three days it gathers together a wide variety of producers and craftsmen who will offer visitors the best of the island’s production. Talks, competitions and conferences are held throughout the event .
Music & Arts Festivals:
Corsica is an island of culture with an abundance of activities which are organised by volunteers passionate about their chosen interest. There is a publication, the 'guide des manifestations culturelles' which gives listings of all the events but this is, sadly, invariably produced at the last minute, which often means certain events have passed before it becomes available. It is difficult to get global information of the events planned for the whole year, so look out for posters and ask at the local tourist offices. The majority of Corsican festivals take place in the summer months when the concerts can be held in the open air.
July
Festiballu - Corte
Traditional dance and music festival (mainly violin) with fiddlers from many other countries as well as Corsica.
August
Foire De Saint Roch - Renno
The “mountain days” offers a varied programme: films, exhibitions, music, singing, dancing, theatre and debates with writers.
Religious Events:
Good Friday
A Cerca et a Granitola - Casmaccioli
A procession of dozens of hooded monks from four local monasteries make their way through the villages on Good Friday chanting, singing and spiralling through the streets. It truly is an incredible sight to witness.
