Teepee holiday amid the Corsican scrub

Camping is "cool", offering a myriad of accommodation options from sleeping in a teepee, a caravan or more traditional tent, appealing to a wider audience every year, the editor of the Cool Camping guide book series has claimed.
Jonathan Knight has also explained that in the current financial situation in Europe, camping has also become a "credit crunch budget option", although people staying in luxury boutique campsites do so by choice not for savvy reasons.
Corsica is the camping destination in Europe par excellence, and for those looking for a remote hut on the island, Chez Charles offers teepees for up to four people with kitchen and bathroom, for €500 a week in the summer.
Located near Saint Florent, in the middle of the scented Corsican bush, Chez Charles is a good base for exploring nearby sandy beaches and the Agriates desert at the northern tip of the island.
Seven per cent of the UK population are active campers, spending £382 every year on average on equipment, holidays, membership and camping subscriptions, research from September 2007 by Barclays Bank has revealed.
