The Corsican capital Ajaccio has celebrated its sixth Comic Strips Festival earlier this month, where more than 20,000 visitors were reunited in three days.
The Festival International de la BD d'Ajaccio was created five years ago to give talented Corsicans the possibility to meet professionals and maybe even plunge into a new career.
Ten awards were given to Corsican, French and foreign comic strip writers such as Eric Rucksthul, Andre Houot, Joel Jurion, Frederic Federzoni, Jeronathon, Max Cabanes, Jean-Claude Servais, Grezgorz Rosinski, Gael and Ogaki.
Free exhibitions related to famous French comic strips Roulez Jeunesse, Boule et Bill and Rosinski's Thorgal were presented to the public throughout the weekend.
Internationally and locally renowned artists like Grzegorz Rosinski, Walter Farher, Hardy, Servais, Houot, De Groot, Jung, Minh Than, Jee Yun, Gael, Jorenaton, Puech and many others were all present at the event and happy to sign autographs.
After last year's success of a play on the famous comic strip Les Bidochons, the festival this year again treated visitors with yet another play called Pauvres mais fiers from the strip by French writer Tronchet.
