Sebastien Loeb is a step closer to securing the 2008 World Rally Drivers’ Championship after his fourth consecutive win in Corsica. The Citroen driver now has a 14-point lead over Mikko Hirvonen of Finland and is tipped to secure this year’s title.
The win in Corsica in front of home fans was Loeb’s tenth this season and 46th of his career, completing a clean sweep of wins on asphalt this year following successes in Spain, Germany and Monte Carlo.
Loeb was untouchable, winning 14 of the 16 stages held near the island’s capital Ajaccio. He is now looking forward to the final two stages in Japan and Great Britain but says he will be driving for points rather than another victory.
