The area around Corte in central Corsica offers some rewarding hiking trails to a multitude of peaks and glacial lakes for thrill-seeking adventurers.
Both departing from the Bergeries de Grotelle car park at the end of the D623 road are the trails to the Melu (1,711m) and the Capitellu (1,930m) glacial lakes.
The trek to Melu Lake takes about one hour from the car park. From there, trekkers can decide to tackle a further 45-minute hike to Capitellu Lake for even more magnificent views.
