Campers given insurance advice

01 September 2008

Holidaymakers taking a camping trip should check their insurance policies as not all items may be covered.

The Fair Investment Company has reminded campers that items stolen from tents or damaged on a campsite are not always protected by home contents or travel insurance deals.

Checking the details of cover before travelling was advised by spokesperson Rachael Stiles.

She added: "Be careful, if you leave items unattended in a tent and they get stolen, it is unlikely that an insurance company will pay out for a claim as it is the policy holder's responsibility to 'take every reasonable precaution to prevent loss or damage'.
