The possibility of accessing the internet on board flights could increase as one airline launches in-flight wi-fi tests.
American Airlines has launched a six-month trial of its new in-flight wireless internet connection on 15 planes.
Passengers travelling to New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Miami will be able to take advantage of the service.
If successful, the system will be introduced on more flights and could be explored by other airlines.
