The cost of taking a traditional summer holiday has risen over the past year, TravelSupermarket.com suggests.
According to the company's travel expert Bob Atkinson, breaks that appeared "quite cheap" last summer have now risen in price.
The strength of the Euro is one factor making trips more expensive, as are rising fuel costs which are adding to the price of flights.
He also suggested that holidaymakers are now leaving bookings to the last minute and then realising that prices are higher than expected.
Figures from Travel Weekly suggest that up to five million Britons will book their main summer break for 2009 in the next two to three months.
