Brits to take less short breaks in the credit crunch

29 August 2008

Holidaymakers will cut back on the number of short breaks they take as a result of the current economic downturn, according to one industry expert.

Bob Atkinson, travel expert at TravelSupermarket.com, has suggested that city breaks and long weekends away in short-haul destinations will fall in popularity over the winter.

People tend to take a fortnight holiday and then up to four short breaks through the year, however he does not expect this trend to continue.
