Taking a gap year holiday can help young people stand out from their peers when applying for jobs, an expert has said.
Volunteering abroad and developing new skills will benefit the future career prospects of gap year travellers, said Ben Clifton from volunteer organisation Lattitude.
Spending time in a foreign country is not only an enjoyable holiday experience, it can also lead to other benefits.
"It really can make you stand out from the crowd when applying for jobs or university places," he commented.
