Corsica's traditional sweets

13 August 2008

Perfect present for friends and family back home and ideal snack for anyone with a sweet tooth, Corsican nougat is a favourite among all visitors to the island.

Corsican nougat comes in many different shapes and flavours from orange, chestnut and almond nougat to myrtle, fig and citron.

La Confiserie de la Cite Imperiale sells traditionally made nougat and other Corsican specialities like liquor at its main shop "Le Petit Praline" in the village of Appietto, north of Ajaccio.

From March to October, the sweetshop also opens another branch near the Iles Sanguinaires in Ajaccio.
