This year's weather proved particularly favourable for the wine industry on the Beauty Island with production estimates for 2008 indicating around 380 mhl, equivalent to around 38,000 million litres.
Last year's wine production reached 339mhl, or 33,900 million litres, including 113mhl in AOC (wines with a quality label).
This year's AOC production could reach 120 mhl, Viniflhor, the government's organisation in charge of fruits, vegetables, wine and horticulture, has reported.
The wine harvest, which is due to start around September, tends to attract many seasonal workers eager to combine holidays and work experience.
