The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has reminded Britons of the need to take out adequate travel insurance.
Figures released by the FCO show an increase in the number of requests for assistance made over the past year.
Highlighting the potential dangers of travelling overseas, the FCO pointed to an increase in the number of British nationals arrested for not following local customs and a rise in hospitalisations.
Foreign Office Minister Meg Munn told TravelMole that the report acts as "a reminder to all that taking out comprehensive travel insurance is a crucial part of your holiday planning and not something that should be sacrificed to save a few pounds".
