The Competition Commission is expected to suggest a break-up of the UK airport operator BAA.
According to reports, the Commission will recommend that BAA sells at least one of the seven airports it controls in England and Scotland.
A report is due from the EU body later this month, with the news following calls from Ryanair and Virgin Atlantic for the division of BAA.
The low-cost carrier recently announced its plans to bid for London Stansted Airport if BAA is disbanded by the Commission.
