Bonifacio's King of Aragon staircase

08 August 2008

Legend says that when the King of Aragon besieged Corsica's southernmost town in the 15th century, his troops dug up the famous staircase in one single night.

The staircase is an impressive 187-step adventure inclined at 45 degrees and built into limestone.

For a bit of sport activity on your holiday to south Corsica, you can climb up and down the staircase for €2.50.

Entrance is free for under 12s and €1.50 for youths aged 12 to 16.

Visitors will enjoy free access on September 20th and 21st for the annual heritage days.

The staircase is open every day from 10am to 6pm in favourable weather.
