The annual heritage days, or "journees du patrimoine" are unique occasions to visit monuments normally closed to the public such as the Alistro semaphore in San Giuliano in north-eastern Corsica.
The building will be open on the third weekend of September from 2pm to 6pm on the 20th, and from 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm on the 21st.
Built in 1889, the semaphore was destroyed by the Germans in 1943, and later rebuilt in 1990.
Semaphores were extensively used in the 19th century to communicate by signals with ships and spot potential invaders.
