The donkey, which has become an emblem of Corsica and is a common sight on postcards, could only deserve a day entirely dedicated to his breed on the Beauty Island.
Numerous animations are organised throughout Donkey Day, including donkey riding and games involving the members of the horse family.
The last festival took place in the village of Ernella near Corte in central Corsica on June, 29th.
The organising association A Runcata currently supports the ten remaining donkey breeders on the island and also wants the official recognition of Corsican donkeys.
