A visit to the archaeological museum Licnicoi in Albertacce is well worth it, retracing Corsica's past over some eight millenniums.
The vast collection presented at the museum includes relics dating as far back as 6,000 B.C. during the Neolithic Period.
The Niolu valley was favoured by prehistoric inhabitants because it was surrounded by mountainous walls, making it an easy place to defend.
The site is located on the D84, about one hour drive south of Bastia and half an hour away from Corte.
