Perched on a hill overlooking the gulf of Porto-Vecchio are the ruins of Castellu d'Arraghju, an old fortress excavated in the late 60s.
The ruins are an impressive relic of Corsica's past, with some of the stone walls reaching four metres in height.
Located near the village of San Gavinu di Carbini in the Alta Rocca region, the ruins are accessible from Arraggiu hamlet, along a 20-minute path through the maquis.
The site is unknown to most tourists on holiday to Corsica and offers outstanding views over the gulf.
