The Alitalia Express inaugural flight to Bastia from Albenga in Italy took of this morning.
Commenting, Pietro Balestra, president of AVA (airport management company), said: "About twenty flights are scheduled every week. This new connection would have to promote the tourist development of Liguria Region."
The flights to Bastia will be run using ATR-72 aircraft.
