To truly appreciate Corsica and its layback feeling, venture on the island's secondary roads outside of the main resorts to admire traditional villages and their typical stone houses dotted along tiny alleyways.
The village of Lama is located only half an hour away from Ile-Rousse.
Drive on the N1197 past Monetta, the village is on the left-hand side up a secondary road.
Lama is home to some outstanding pieces of architecture, from 18th century mansions built in the image of Tuscan palazzi, to tiny stone houses perched at the top of steep hills.
