Contrary to the joke that circulates on mainland France about Corsica being "the land of the siesta", the unique Corsican bee, also called Apis Mellifera, is a hard-working insect, restlessly gathering pollen all year long.
Corsica's extensive honey production is one of the richest and most diverse productions on the island, offering all sorts of savours from lavender honey, to chestnut grove honey, or heather honey.
The "Mele di Corsica" AOC label was first introduced in 1998.
Tasting the various honeys will truly awake your senses and make you want to stay on the island forever.
