Research has revealed that the Beauty Island is one of the most dynamic regions in France in terms of employment and the economy.
Figures from the Insee have indeed shown that Corsica's four main towns all figure within the first top 11 French towns out of 348 for dynamism in employment.
With Porto-Vecchio ranking third, followed by Ajaccio and Corte, Corsica is one of the most dynamic regions in the country, with new job opportunities being created every day, especially in the building and tourism industries.
Sartene sub-prefect, Dominique Jane, has told the Express: "Professionals in the tourism industry have considerably improved their trade over the years and extended the high season period beyond the traditional months of July and August."
The research has also shown that the southern coast of France and Corsica tend to be economically more dynamic than other regions in France, with Southern Corsica ranking first and Northern Corsica tenth.
The "lazy" Corsicans depicted in famous Asterix in Corsica (by Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo) are nowhere to be found anymore, but the joke is likely to remain in people's mind for centuries to come.
