Children aged five to ten will perform at Ajaccio's convention centre tonight, offering their public drama in Corsu for the Festival of Drama in Corsican Language.
As reported by Corse Matin, pupils from various schools located in Ajaccio and nearby Porticcio and Mezzavia have been preparing for this performance throughout the year, with the help of professional dramatist Lionel Tavera and their respective Corsican teachers.
Corsican is indeed part of the curriculum on the island, offering children the opportunity to become bilingual from a very young age.
"Tutti i sculari di teatru in lingua corsa" is the proof that the island's culture and traditions are still well alive in this 21st century.
Like French and Italian, Corsican, or Corsu, is a Romanic language. Corsu does not stem from the Italian language however, even if they sound similar, it was instead subject to its own evolutions from Latin itself.
With the CD-Rom "In Corsu", French speakers can learn all the basics of the language in an interactive and lively way, improving both their writing and speaking skills.
