Gardens and conservatories are hugely sought after and large gardens can add up to 20 per cent to the value of a property, Gardeners' World Magazine has explained.
Lucy Hall has also said that "families in particular are crying out for safe and private space, regardless of whether you’re in town or country".
As for conservatories, they have become more and more popular over the last few years, and people tend to use them as extra rooms in the house, often "centred around a living-dining area", rather than a place where to grow plants.
According to research from the French institute Ipsos, eight in ten people living in France agree in saying that a garden is an important criterion when choosing a house on the market.
While 46 per cent believe gardens will play an important part in their choice, another 32 per cent see it as a decisive factor.
The survey has also revealed that almost 70 per cent of the French population currently owns a garden or rents a house with a garden.
