The north-west of Corsica is the place to be if you are looking for relaxation.
You can make a selection from many resorts and beaches to cater for for all tastes; there are nearby mountains to find freshness and also small villages to stroll around and have a typical meal.
The city of Calvi offers a wonderful panoramic view of the sea, with its Genoese citadel built in the 13th century on a rocky promontory.
Surrounded by a pine forest, Calvi contains many pleasant streets and a charming port with cafes and restaurants.
The hinterland, called the Balagne, is an entirely different universe: the mountain is just a few kilometres from the coastline.
Eagle nests, fresh mountain air and hiking: it's easy to forget about the rest of the world when you are in the Corsican nature.
