New research has revealed that the overall increase in the number of solar installations reached 15 per cent for the thermic market and 200 per cent for the photovoltaic market in France during 2007.
Homeowners in France are constantly encouraged to turn to renewable energies as numerous subventions can be obtained from the regional councils.
These are available from the national agency for housing improvement (Anah), as well as from the electricity company EDF which can even buy surplus of energy from owners.
Research carried out by the environment and energy agency ADEME has revealed that photovoltaic solar energy represented a total supply of 45 megawatts.
Some 40 per cent of this is for the Dom Tom and Corsica in 2007, representing a 200 per cent increase since 2006.
Thermic energy represented a total supply of 226 megawatts, an increase of 15 per cent compared to 2006.
EDF currently offers l0.30 per kilowatt for surplus in photovoltaic energy in France and 0.40 for Corsica and the Dom Tom.
