Corsican band Notte will be performing in Calvi tomorrow and Saturday at the bar Le son des guitars.
Olivier Massoni, Paul Cesari, David Massoni, Christophe Bonifacy, Lionel Giacomini and Ghjuvan Francescu Ottavi formed the band Notte seven years ago to give a voice to Corsican tradition in an association with modern types of music.
Polyphony is Corsica's music symbol and Ottavi told Club Corsica that "from electrical sounds to digital effects, associated with traditional instruments and rhythms, innovation is immense".
He added: "It is primordial for us to show that Corsican language and culture are an asset for all the young people who belong to this modern world".
The band launched their first CD with the association Notte di Corsica 2005 last year. Many businesses on the island supported the project and helped the group for the release of Al dila.
Local artists like Pascal Ottavi who is deeply involved in supporting bilingual schools, Saveriu Luciani, Ghjuvan Ghjiseppu Franchi and Marcela Barios all participated, offering numerous texts and photos.
Notte di Corsica 2005's mission is to "defend and give existence to the Corsican language and culture in a contemporary world".
