A special exhibition of Corsican painter Jose Lorenzi will be presented at the artist's gallery in Bastia, North Corsica, throughout the month of December.
The new collection entitled Nus figures alongside Lorenzi's permanent exhibition.
The Cap Corse-born artist is famous for capturing the beauty of Kalliste, "the most beautiful island", its landscapes and its inhabitants.
Lorenzi always depicts the beautiful and happy side of the universe, and some of his famous paintings include colourful village squares and the luminous countryside of southern Corsica depicted through lively colours.
French dramatist Jean Giraudoux once said that because of their energy, colours and shapes, Lorenzi's paintings created an atmosphere of morning dawn which in itself justified the artist's existence and work.
Lorenzi was a real leader for many now famous painters, sculptors and designers. Among his students we count the likes of Toussin Dominici, Jeannine Mattei, Mireille Simi, Maguy Muzi, and many others.
Lorenzi was also at the origin of the introduction of artistic subjects at the Education Nationale in 1967, making art an option for all schools in France.
His work is presented in various galleries around the world including galleries in Paris, New-York, where he was awarded the Golden Medal in 1969, as well as Italy, Argentina and many other countries in South America.
