The region of Deux-Sorru in southern Corsica is preparing its music festival which will take place from December 19th to 22nd in the small villages all around the area.
Amateur musicians and professionals, most of them soloists at the National Orchestra of France, come each year to learn and perform on stage, offering visitors great opportunities to participate or simply appreciate from a distance.
Classical, traditional, as well as modern music will all figure in the programme, after which artists traditionally share festive dinning with the spectators.
The festival started in 2004 and tries to attract local and foreign visitors to its beautiful region which is not part of the main tourist trail.
The region has plenty to offer however, from culinary experiences, to natural wonders and outdoor activities.
South Corsica's landscape is out of this world. To mention only a few, wonders such as the Calanches de Piana, red granite peaks formed by erosion, the natural reserve of the Scandola peninsula which was classified by Unesco, or the forest massif of Aitone overlooking the bay with its 2,000-metre summit are really worth a visit.
If you prefer outdoor activities, you can join divers on their way to world-renowned sites or go canyoning, cruising, jet-skiing, or even sky-diving.
For something tastier, head for the traditional shops in the villages all selling locally produced goat cheese, charcuterie and honey.
