Next month chestnut fever is due to hit Corsica with the arrival of the annual Fiera dia Castagna (Chestnut Festival).
One of the highlights of the Corsican calendar, the festival is due to take place between December 7th and 9th, with up to 30,000 visitors expected to attend.
Originally designed to promote local agriculture, the festival has gained something of a following over recent years, with food tourists, interested visitors and members of the French farming community coming together.
Steeped in a rich history, the main attraction of the festival is a contest to find the finest chestnut flour, reports events service WhatsonWhen.
Those less interested in baking ingredients may be grateful of the vast array of cakes, biscuits and jams on display.
Fiera dia Castagna is held in the picturesque village of Bocognano, situated midway between the popular towns of Ajaccio and Corte.
