Rating a restaurant by its popularity among those who share the same nationality as its cuisine is a common approach to determining where to wine and dine.
If the same approach can be applied to location, then Corsica should be pick of the crop of French holiday destinations.
Ben Sanders, a spokesperson for french-property.com, said: "Corsica is very popular for the internal French market, certainly more so than for the English expats."
Some eight per cent of the British population lives abroad - much higher than the percentage of French, Italian, American or Canadian citizens living in foreign locations.
Corsica is considered one of the 26 regions of France, although by law it is a 'territorial collectivity'.
Mr Sanders commented: "People are very much drawn to the culture in France, rather than in Spain where people are just drawn to the sunshine. There's plenty to see and do, lots of history and lots of wine."
