Take the coast road to Ajaccio
For the adventurous, take the coast road to Ajaccio via Coti Chiavari. The remoteness of the road means that please set off prepared with ample fuel, but the scenery is superb and you can take your time.
Filitosa
Lying in the countryside of the Taravo valley on the north side of the Valinco Gulf is Filitosa, a collection of menhirs, (from the Celtic maen hir meaning long stone). Filitosa is one of the most important prehistoric sites in Corsica. The oldest findings on the site date back to approximately 6000BC which, with subsequent discoveries, indicate that there was a human population living in caves in this area as early as 3300BC. Allow about one/one and a half-hours to walk around the parkland setting of the stones, and to visit the small museum afterwards.
Propriano
Propriano is a lively resort town with restaurants, shops and an attractive, busy marina. The town wasn't really developed until the turn of the 20th century, and the natural harbour still has a slightly unfinished appearance although Propriano is now an important tourist destination.
