St Florent
The bustling heart St Florent is the old town, with its narrow streets and vibrant bar terraces. Relax in one of the waterfront cafés and watch the yachts of the rich arrive at the marina. The ambience on the port of an evening is not to be missed. Just watch the rich people and marvel at their luxurious yachts – a true pleasure seeker's paradise. Just park on the port or in the Citadel.
Tour the Cap Corse
Many people explore the Cap in a single, day-long trip from Bastia but we recommend that you start at Patrimonio near the west coast and drive clockwise so that you are always driving in the inside – the road is winding and narrow and some of the drops can be unnervingly precipitous.
Plage de Lodo
This is one of the most wonderfully isolated beaches of the Désert des Agriates. With its white sand and clear turquoise water it is very popular in July and August though quite deserted the rest of the year. Access is by foot from St Florent (a good hour and a half walk) or by boat from St Florent - U Saleccia (04 95 37 19 07) and Popeye (04 95 36 90 78). Please bear in mind that there is no natural shade and no buildings at all so you should take whatever you need for protection from the sun and your own refreshments.
