What We Think
The Hotel l’Escale is an intimate hotel of just 14 rooms with a perfect location in l’Ile Rousse. On one side of the hotel, just 50 metres away, is the town’s excellent central beach, and on the other runs the main street with its array of restaurants, cafés and shops. The hotel is very much in the contemporary style with some added Asian influence thanks to the various artefacts the owners have retrieved on their travels. The main bar area is spacious and relaxing, with its large bay windows affording beautiful views across the beach to the sea. There is occasionally entertainment here of an evening, and there is a variety of cocktails available. The bar area does not serve food in the evening, but you can always take in one of the many great restaurants in the town, and don’t forget that the restaurant next door is run by the hotel owners and has similarly excellent views out across the sea. The rooms are compact and continue in the contemporary style, with deep tones punctuated with tasteful splashes of colour. All rooms are comfortable, though only a limited number have the luxury of a sea view and a balcony. Relaxing with a book and a cold drink taking in the sea view comes highly recommended. Overall this is a popular hotel with a great reputation for good service from its friendly staff. It grants superb access to this beautiful Corsican town and the wider area of la Balagne, Calvi and beyond.
